Course Description and Outcomes

This course directly develops the learning offered in the Understanding Child Protection Course and strengthens practice skills for staff contributing to child protection meetings, processes and procedures. It has multi-agency relationships at its heart where participants will explore concepts that support effective multi-agency working and how to overcome those that act as a barrier. This is done so within a strengths based and trauma informed approach to ensure the system of help is supporting positive change for families and children.

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed safeguarding supervisors or designated leads and those who attend child protection meetings such as strategy meetings and initial child protection conferences and reviews.

How much?

There is a cost to attend this course for all partner agencies including the statutory and voluntary sectors. Some agencies have a pre-paid funding arrangement with us meaning the cost of attendance is already covered. These are:

  • Devon and Cornwall Police
  • Plymouth City Council
  • Devon Integrated Care Board
  • City College Plymouth
  • Livewell Southwest
  • Plymouth Hospitals Trust
  • All Children’s Centre’s
  • All Childminders
  • All Nursery/Pre-school Settings

If you don’t work for any of the above agencies or services the cost to attend is £45 per person.
