
Plymouth City Council- Children, Young People & Families Service Teams
Quality Assurance Team
The team complete quality assurance activity across Children’s Services to identify practice strengths so that these can be built on, and practice that needs to be strengthened to inform improvement plans.
Safeguarding Team
The team are responsible for providing independent oversight of children’s plans via the chairing of all Child Protection and Child in Care meetings to drive timely, sustained positive outcomes for children.
Participation Team
The Participation Team work with children and young people via groupwork, Appreciate Enquiries, Learning Walks, surveys, focus groups and school-based work to support children and young people’s views to be heard and can influence operational and strategic decisions. (link to their website) They also support the organisation of the young person’s interview panel for those wanting to join Plymouth Children’s Services
Children’s Social Work Teams
Provides support, advice and challenge for families with children who have a Child in Need Plan, or a Child Protection plan to lower risks and improve outcomes. The team also identifies alternative carers for children who cannot remain with their immediate families and supports children to permanency.
Community Based Assessment Team
This team complete intensive independent assessments with families to determine the parents’ capacity to care for their children.
Oak Team
This team provide specialist supervised family time for a specific group of parents to spend time with their children.
Family Group Conference
Support families’ to identify their own family plan for sustained positive change for children.
Targeted Support
Various teams that provide early help and edge of care support to children, young people and families.
Youth Justice Service
Delivers support to children and young people who are on the periphery of offending or who have been convicted of an offence. Provides the court with reports to support sentencing options and offers alternatives to custody packages.
Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
The Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub receives contact and referrals about children when there are safety worries. They give advice, signposting information and consultation, and progress children likely to be at risk of harm into statutory services.
Initial Response Team
This team complete assessments of children in need and those at significant risk of harm and gives recommendations regarding the suitable plan required.
Out of Hours Team
This team provide a night-time, weekend and Bank Holiday Children’s Service for families and professionals.
Permanence Team
They support Children in Care to feel settled and ensure that their needs are met.
Learning Academy
The Learning Academy provide learning and development sessions for the Children’s Service workforce. They also oversee and support social work students and newly qualified social workers
Care Leavers Team
This team provide support and advice to young people who are care experienced.
Special Guardianship Team
Provide advice and support to Special Guardians.
